Rome Braves clinch postseason berth

The Rome Braves are headed to postseason play after tonight?s doubleheader sweep of the Lexington Legends. It is the first playoff appearance since 2006. Rome won the South Atlantic League Championship in 2003

?We are very excited and proud to bring the playoffs back to Rome and Northwest Georgia,? says Rome Braves General Manager Michael Dunn.

The team struggled in the first half of the season winning just 18 of the 70 games played. After the All Star break, Rome put together a 13 game winning streak, a new club record, and won 29 of 43 games to open the second half.

Game one of the South Atlantic League Playoffs against Asheville is Wednesday September 5th at State Mutual Stadium. Fans are asked to wear white to the game. Games two and three (if necessary) will be played in Asheville September 7th and 8th. If the Braves advance to the championship round, a best of five series, games one and two will be played in Rome September 10th and 11th with the remaining games played in the Northern Division city. Tickets are on sale now at the Rome Braves ticket office or online at romebraves.com.
